My sleep is terrible. Is it time to seek help?

If you've landed on this blog post, chances are, you're having trouble sleeping, feeling weary and frustrated and are now ready to seek help. Don't worry, you're not alone. Approximately one in three adults experience difficulty sleeping, a situation the World Sleep Society refers to as a global epidemic. But how do you know if you’re ready to work with a sleep consultant near you?

Let's answer these questions to assist you on your sleep improvement journey.

Firstly, is now the time to get your sleep sorted?

The answer is yes if:

  • You're ready to take control of your sleep issues.

  • You're motivated to achieve great sleep naturally.

  • You're open to challenging your beliefs and behaviors about sleep.

  • You're eager to learn and try new strategies.

  • You understand that improving sleep is a non-linear process, and can handle a few setbacks along the journey.

  • You're past 'sleep hacks' and want a long-term solution.

  • You're committed, patient, and ready to improve your sleep for better health, wellbeing, and quality of life.

On the other hand, you might not be ready if:

  • You're seeking an instant fix for your sleep troubles.

  • You're not willing to put in the work and want a 'done for you' solution.

  • You're unable to make lifestyle changes at this time.

  • You expect the sleep improvement journey to be fast and flawless.

  • You're content with the status quo for a while longer.

Okay, I’m ready to get help for my sleep challenges. What do I do now?

Whether it's medication, sleep aids, or a glass of wine at night to take the edge off, none of these offer a long-term solution and they never address the underlying thoughts and behaviours leading to and prolonging insomnia-related sleep issues.
